Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens delivered one of its most complete offensive performances of the EuroLeague season on Friday night, defeating AS Monaco 107-97 at Telekom Center Athens to strengthen its position in the playoff race.
The victory extended Panathinaikos’s winning streak to four games and pushed the Greek club to a 20-14 record, keeping it firmly in the tightly contested middle of the EuroLeague standings.
The hosts struggled early but flipped the game in decisive fashion during the second quarter. Panathinaikos opened the night 0-for-7 from three-point range and trailed 16-15 after the first period before unleashing a dominant stretch on both ends of the floor.
Ergin Ataman’s team overwhelmed Monaco with defensive pressure and second-chance opportunities, forcing eight first-half turnovers and collecting 12 offensive rebounds that led to 19 second-chance points.
The momentum shift arrived quickly as Panathinaikos outscored Monaco 37-19 in the second quarter. That surge created a 52-35 halftime lead and ignited the crowd inside Telekom Center Athens.
The offensive rhythm continued after halftime. Panathinaikos produced 92 points across the final three quarters while sharing the ball effectively and attacking Monaco inside.
Kendrick Nunn led the scoring with 25 points, continuing his strong form during the late stretch of the season. The guard also contributed five assists while controlling the pace of the offense.
Eight Panathinaikos players scored at least eight points, highlighting the team’s depth. Kostas Sloukas added 10 points and seven assists, while Juancho Hernangomez scored 11 points on perfect 4-of-4 shooting from two-point range.
Mathias Lessort provided interior presence with nine points and eight rebounds, helping the hosts win the rebounding battle 42-34.
Monaco stayed competitive behind a strong offensive night from Elie Okobo, who finished with 24 points and 13 assists. Nemanja Nedovic added 15 points and Matthew Strazel scored 13.
Despite Monaco shooting an efficient 64.1 percent from two-point range, the visitors could not overcome Panathinaikos’s rebounding advantage and ball movement. The Greek side finished with 27 assists and repeatedly generated open perimeter looks through quick passing sequences.
Panathinaikos will travel to face Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv on April 2, while Monaco will visit Dubai Basketball on the same day.
