Virtus Bologna has dismissed head coach Dusko Ivanovic following Thursday’s 103–87 loss to EA7 Emporio Armani Milan in the Derby d’Italia. The decision was confirmed by the club Friday in an official statement.

The organization also confirmed the departure of assistant coach Nenad Trajkovic. Both exits come as the Italian club struggles to maintain competitiveness late in the EuroLeague season.

Ivanovic, 68, was appointed head coach on December 5, 2024. During his tenure, the Montenegrin coach posted a 20–33 record across domestic and EuroLeague competitions.

Virtus currently sits 15th in the EuroLeague standings with a 13–20 record. The club has struggled recently, losing eight of its last ten games and falling out of contention for the postseason play-in positions.

With the postseason approaching, the club moved quickly to appoint a replacement. Virtus announced that Nenad Jakovljevic will take over as head coach for the remainder of the season.

Jakovljevic is not unfamiliar with the position. He previously served as interim head coach last season during a brief transition period after Luca Banchi’s dismissal and before Ivanovic’s appointment.
