Despite the San Antonio Spurs’ rapid rise, questions remain about whether their relatively young roster can handle the intensity of a deep playoff run.

However, some league figures believe those concerns are overstated.

One Eastern Conference executive pushed back against the narrative that the Spurs lack experience, highlighting key contributors like Harrison Barnes, Luke Kornet, and De’Aaron Fox.

“Everyone says they don’t have experience, but they have a lot more than anyone gives them credit for,” one East executive said of the Spurs.

“Harrison Barnes and Luke Kornet have championship rings. De’Aaron Fox is one of the league’s best clutch players and he’s been in the playoffs.

“Do you think Victor is going to be intimidated by the moment? Good luck with that.”

At the same time, there are still areas of concern.

A veteran scout acknowledged that history typically doesn’t favor such a young team making a title run, even with a unique talent like Wembanyama.

“History says it doesn’t happen this year, and projects against it. But they’re different,” said the scout. “He’s generational.”

There are also tactical weaknesses opponents may exploit.

San Antonio’s primary guards, Fox, Stephon Castle, and Dylan Harper, are below-average three-point shooters, which could become a key focus for opposing defenses in a playoff series.
