Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson is expected to return for Sunday’s game against Portland after missing more than six weeks with a right hamstring strain, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Before the injury, Watson was enjoying a breakout season, averaging 14.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, and solid defensive numbers across 49 games, including 39 starts.
The 23-year-old has been an important piece for Denver on both ends of the floor.
A former first-round pick in 2022, Watson is on track to become a restricted free agent this offseason.
His qualifying offer could increase if he meets certain starting thresholds before the end of the season.
Denver has dealt with multiple injuries throughout the year, contributing to inconsistent results after a strong start.
Despite that, the team remains confident in its potential moving forward.
“With what we have in the locker room, there’s no reason for us not to believe,” Jamal Murray said. “Of course we’re confident.”
