Khris Middleton thought about pursuing a buyout with the Dallas Mavericks last month to join a contender, but ultimately chose to remain with the team, who hold his Bird rights, as Grant Afseth of Dallas Hoops Journal reports.
The 34-year-old has since indicated that he would be open to continuing his tenure with the team beyond this season.
“For sure. I love the city of Dallas, I’ve been here before,” Middleton said. “I’m familiar with Dallas, I love the area. As far as the organization, it’s been great. I stayed here for a reason.
“I like where things are headed here. I like the way they’re trying to do things here, so we’ll see what happens.”
Middleton has played 14 seasons for 4 teams, including the Bucks and Wizards. He has averaged 16.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 828 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 3 All-Star games, and has won 1 NBA championship.
