Following their sixth loss in the last seven games on Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admitted the team is effectively headed for the play-in tournament, according to Anthony Slater of ESPN.
Golden State has slipped to the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference standings, though the focus now is on climbing to No. 8 to improve their playoff chances.
“We’ve had our eyes on six for a while,” Kerr said. “That’s out of the question now. We’re not getting there. If we can string together some wins, try to get to eighth, that’d be ideal. Get two cracks at (getting in the playoffs). But we’re not getting to seven. We know that.”
Kerr had previously been hopeful that Moses Moody might return during the current road trip, but his tone shifted on Wednesday, casting doubt on that possibility, as Nick Friedell of The Athletic notes.
The player has missed eight straight games with a right wrist sprain, and there’s still no clear timetable for when he might be back.
Moody has played 5 seasons for the Warriors. He has averaged 7.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 314 regular-season games. He has won 1 NBA championship.
