Luka Doncic emphasized the team’s connection after Los Angeles’ 124-116 win over Houston, saying, “Yeah, I think so for sure. You saw the low man step up, so the cut was wide open, so we did it twice. It worked twice. I think it was just a nice play.”
The star guard credited winning as the main motivator behind the Lakers’ seven-game streak: “Winning games, that’s it. Win everything is easier. Win is fun. Just the way we play, I think it’s a lot of fun.”
Doncic also addressed an interaction with fans, noting, “It was in the first quarter after I missed like first four shots. Then he started talking. I heard him. So that was in the first quarter.”
Reflecting on a breakaway early in the game, Doncic said, “LeBron gave you the advantage. It’s two points, man. I was tired. I had like three open layups. I didn’t dunk it. But two points, two points. I don’t care.”
He praised James’ consistency and longevity: “It’s pretty awesome to see him every day just experience greatness. I said today that he was player of the game. Another moment is when he and AR started the fourth quarter. We were down three and we just got like a 9-0 run. They did an amazing job.”
Doncic highlighted the team’s resilience in response to runs by opponents: “A few weeks ago, those big runs that teams would go against us, like the Phoenix game or the Orlando game…we just responded. We say it’s time to close the game and that’s what we do.”
The Lakers improved to 44-25 with Doncic scoring 40 points, nine rebounds, and 10 assists, while James added 30 points on 13-of-14 shooting. Los Angeles shot 61% from the field and 47% from three-point range, extending their streak to seven games.
Los Angeles will visit the Miami Heat on Thursday, while Houston hosts the Atlanta Hawks on Friday as both teams look to rebound.
