Luka Doncic scored 40 points and added nine rebounds with 10 assists, while LeBron James contributed 30 points as the Los Angeles Lakers extended their winning streak to seven games with a 124-116 victory over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday at Toyota Center.
The Lakers improved to 44-25, marking their 10th win in 11 games, after also defeating Houston 100-92 on Monday night.
Los Angeles led by two in the fourth quarter before consecutive 3-pointers by Rui Hachimura and Doncic pushed the lead to 113-109 with three minutes remaining.
With about 90 seconds left, Doncic found James for an alley-oop dunk, followed by a turnover by Kevin Durant and a three-pointer from Doncic to extend the lead to 120-111.
James shot 13 of 14 from the field, tying the best single-game shooting effort of his career, while adding five rebounds to reach 12,002 career boards, becoming the 23rd player in NBA history to reach the milestone.
Alperen Sengun returned from a back issue to score 27 points with 10 assists for Houston, and Amen Thompson added 26 points and 11 rebounds, but the Rockets committed 11 turnovers in the fourth quarter.
Durant finished with 18 points and six rebounds after scoring just two points in the first half, while Jamal Murray recorded 19 points, 12 assists, and eight rebounds.
The Lakers shot 61% from the field and 47% from three-point range, while Houston converted 49% of their shots and 34% from beyond the arc, highlighting Los Angeles’ efficiency in key moments.
Los Angeles will visit the Miami Heat on Thursday, while the Rockets return home to face the Atlanta Hawks on Friday as both teams look to rebound from Wednesday’s contest.
