The Los Angeles Lakers are currently playing some of their best basketball of the season.
In Tuesday’s game against the Timberwolves, they managed to turn what had been a season-long issue, their defense, into a key strength, helping them continue their strong run, Thuc Nhi Nguyen writes for the Los Angeles Times.
With the victory, Los Angeles has now won six of its last seven games and, entering Wednesday’s action, had moved ahead of Minnesota into the No. 4 spot in the Western Conference standings.
According to The Athletic’s Dan Woike, several Lakers players appear to be settling into their responsibilities within the system, including inconsistent big man Deandre Ayton.
Head coach JJ Redick said he was pleased to see Ayton deliver such a well-rounded performance.
“It’s great for his teammates to see him have a really good performance on both ends of the floor,” Redick said.
“I think it’s bigger for DA to have a game like that against a really good team, one of the best teams in basketball.”
