Stephen Curry has been sidelined for the Golden State Warriors since January 30 and is not expected to return for at least another 10 days.
With both Curry and Jimmy Butler unavailable, Golden State’s outlook this season has started to stall, highlighted by consecutive losses to the Jazz and Bulls, Monte Poole writes for NBC Sports Bay Area.
Given the injuries the Warriors are dealing with, Poole suggests the team’s realistic focus should now be securing the eighth seed in the Western Conference, which could improve their chances of advancing through the play-in tournament.
While that objective is less ambitious than what Golden State envisioned before the season, Poole notes it better reflects the team’s current situation.
There is also another reason why an earlier return from Curry would help the team.
Getting him back on the floor would give him time to build chemistry with Kristaps Porzingis, who recently said he is excited about the opportunity to share the court with the four-time champion for the first time.
