Syracuse University and general manager Alex Kline have mutually parted ways, league sources confirmed to Michael Scotto on Wednesday. The move comes immediately after the Orange fired head coach Adrian Autry following a first-round ACC Tournament loss to SMU.

Kline, who previously worked with the New York Knicks and New Orleans Pelicans, had been involved in building Syracuse’s basketball operations and recruiting network. Before his professional NBA roles, he created The Recruit Scoop and the Mary Kline Classic, establishing a reputation in talent evaluation.

Autry’s dismissal ends his three-season tenure, during which Syracuse did not make the NCAA Tournament. The 2025–26 team finished 15–17 overall and 6–12 in ACC play, marking consecutive losing seasons under his leadership.

During his time as head coach, Autry compiled a 49–48 record. His best campaign came in 2023–24, a 20–12 season highlighted by a victory over then-No. 7 North Carolina and a fifth-place ACC finish. Subsequent seasons saw the team decline, finishing 14th in the conference in back-to-back years.

A former Syracuse player from 1990–1994, Autry had been a longtime assistant under Jim Boeheim before taking over as head coach in 2023. His firing officially ends the 47-year Boeheim era of continuity and marks the first full external coaching search for the program since 1960.

Athletic director John Wildhack announced that Syracuse will conduct a national search for a new head coach. The final hire will be made by Wildhack’s successor, whose identity has yet to be disclosed.
