The Utah Jazz have waived guard Vince Williams, NBA insider Michael Scotto reported on Monday, March 9. Williams, who tore his ACL, will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
Williams joined Utah on February 3 in a trade that sent Kyle Anderson, Walter Clayton Jr., Taylor Hendricks, Georges Niang, and three first-round picks to Memphis for Williams, Jaren Jackson Jr., Jock Landale, and John Konchar.
He appeared in six games for the Jazz, averaging 4.7 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.3 rebounds in 14 minutes per game. Across four NBA seasons with the Grizzlies and Jazz, he averaged 7.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 21.3 minutes per contest.
Utah currently holds a 19-45 record, last in the Western Conference. The team has leaned on Lauri Markkanen and Keyonte George for scoring, with the pair averaging 26.7 and 24.0 points per game, respectively.
Waiving Williams frees a roster spot for potential trades or signings while allowing Utah to manage minutes for younger players.
Williams’ release marks the end of his short tenure in Utah. Once healthy, he will be available to other teams, while the Jazz continue their rebuild around core players and future assets.
