Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic says he plans to continue his NBA career as long as he can contribute at a high level.
“I’ll play as long as I can… as long as I see that I’m creating an advantage and that I can play at a high level,” Jokic said on the X&O’s Chat, via HoopsHype.
At 30, Jokic is averaging 28.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 10.3 assists over 48 games this season, maintaining his All-Star form. His efficiency remains elite, shooting 57.4% from the field and 39.1% from three-point range.
Jokic’s leadership has helped the Nuggets hold a 39-25 record, placing them sixth in the Western Conference. His ability to impact the game as both a scorer and playmaker has kept Denver competitive in the tight playoff race.
Jamal Murray complements Jokic’s dominance, averaging 25.5 points and 7.2 assists per game, giving the Nuggets a strong duo capable of matching any team in the West.
Despite the physical toll of the NBA, Jokic’s focus remains on maximizing impact rather than simply extending his career indefinitely. He acknowledged the uncertainty of the future but emphasized performance over longevity.
“You know… that’s my opinion right now. Next time… I might already say: ‘I’ll play until I break everything,’” he said.
Denver’s playoff positioning remains under scrutiny, with the Nuggets trailing Oklahoma City and San Antonio but ahead of Phoenix and Golden State in the West.
