New Orleans Pelicans wing Trey Murphy III returned to the lineup Sunday after missing five games with a right shoulder contusion, marking his first appearance since before the All-Star break, Rod Walker of NOLA.com reports.

Murphy has been one of New Orleans’ key contributors this season and drew notable interest from other teams ahead of February’s trade deadline.

Interim head coach James Borrego praised the impact Murphy brings when he’s on the floor.

“A versatile player playing at a high level,” Borrego said.

“He just raises our level, our standard, our ceiling. He’s having a tremendous year to this date. The energy, the vibe, the spirit, the competitiveness and the belief. I know he’s happy to be out there with his brothers.”

Murphy has played 5 seasons for the Pelicans. He has averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 305 regular-season games.
