Spurs center Victor Wembanyama has been named the Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month for February, while Celtics guard Derrick White earned the honor in the Eastern Conference, the NBA announced.

Wembanyama, the current favorite for Defensive Player of the Year, led the NBA with 3.5 blocks per game in February and raised his league-leading season average to 2.9.

He also ranked second in the West in defensive rebounds at 9.3 per game while helping the Spurs go 11-0 during the month.

San Antonio posted a +15.1 net rating and a 106.2 defensive rating, the best in the West. That mark improved to 100.0 with Wembanyama on the court and rose to 111.1 when he sat.

After also winning the award in January, Wembanyama is the first repeat winner in either conference this season.

Boston recorded the NBA’s best defensive rating in February at 105.5, with White playing a major role.

The 6’4″ guard averaged 1.7 blocks per game, third in the East, and contested 75 shots – the most among guards, per the NBA.

Like Wembanyama in San Antonio, the Celtics also posted a 100.0 defensive rating with White on the floor.

Other nominees included Stephon Castle, Kris Dunn, Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren and Cason Wallace in the West, and Bam Adebayo, OG Anunoby, Scottie Barnes, Dyson Daniels and Ausar Thompson in the East.
