The Phoenix Suns have waived guard Cole Anthony, reports Shams Charania of ESPN, after acquiring him in a salary-clearing trade at the deadline.
John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 says Phoenix delayed the move while exploring a buyout, while Gerald Bourguet of Suns After Dark notes the team also waited until two-way guard Jamaree Bouyea neared his games-played limit.
Head coach Jordan Ott had indicated Anthony remained on the roster as emergency backcourt depth, though he never reported to the team.
The 15th pick in the 2020 draft, the player spent five seasons with Orlando, averaging 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists in 320 games.
He was traded to Memphis in 2025, reached a buyout, and later signed with Milwaukee.
Anthony averaged 6.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in 35 games with the Bucks before being dealt to Phoenix in a three-team trade that helped the Suns move below the luxury tax.
Phoenix is expected to promote Bouyea to the standard roster, opening a two-way spot the team must fill by next Wednesday.
Anthony will clear waivers Sunday if unclaimed and remains playoff-eligible after being waived before March 1.
