Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $25K for “throwing the game ball with force into the spectator stands,” the NBA announced on Thursday (via Twitter).

According to the league, the incident took place at halftime of Minnesota’s three-point win over Portland on Tuesday night.

Edwards, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft, received multiple fines during the 2024/25 season, though aside from technical fouls, this marks the four-time All-Star’s first fine of the 2025/26 campaign.

After earning All-NBA Second Team honors in 2023/24, Edwards saw the value of his rookie-scale max extension increase from 25% to 30% of the 2024/25 salary cap.

He is currently in the second year of that five-year deal and is set to earn $202.4MM over the next four seasons, meaning the $25K fine will have little financial impact.

Edwards is again building a strong All-NBA case this season, averaging a career-best 29.6 points along with 5.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.4 steals while shooting .493/.400/.789 across 49 games (35.6 minutes per contest).
