Dubai Basketball recorded a 95-84 EuroLeague victory over LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne at the Coca-Cola Arena on Thursday, February 26, marking their fourth consecutive win.
Despite shooting just 5-of-18 from three-point range (26.3%), the hosts attacked the paint effectively, setting a new club record with 34 two-point field goals. Dwayne Bacon and McKinley Wright each made seven shots inside the arc, spearheading the historic performance.
Bacon finished with 18 points, five rebounds, three assists, and a PIR of 24, while Wright contributed 16 points, five rebounds, and seven assists without committing a turnover, leading a team-high PIR of 27. The pair helped Dubai build a 48-36 halftime lead and maintain control throughout the contest.
Mfiondu Kabengele opened the scoring with two early threes, including a step-back off the dribble, but the rest of the team struggled from distance until key shots in the later stages. Justin Anderson added three of the team’s seven blocks, contributing to a defensive effort that matched another club record with a 120 team PIR.
Dubai led 75-58 at the end of the third quarter, allowing ASVEL to chip away only after the game was effectively decided.
The win moves Dubai above .500 at 15-14 and keeps the squad in the Play-In race, currently sitting 11th in the EuroLeague standings.
ASVEL, meanwhile, remains at the bottom of the standings at 7-22, struggling despite a 42.3 percent three-point shooting night led by Glynn Watson’s 17 points. The French side will look to regroup when they face Anadolu Efes Istanbul on Friday, while Dubai travels to Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade next Thursday.
