The Washington Wizards have signed two-way guard Jamir Watkins to a new two-year contract, NBA insider Shams Charania reported on Thursday, February 26.

Watkins, 24, was selected in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz and subsequently joined the Wizards. He has averaged 13.2 points and one steal per game over his last six contests, showing a clear scoring uptick.

This season, Watkins has played in 30 games, starting four, and is averaging 5.7 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 18.6 minutes per game. He has been shooting 43% from the field and 26.6% from three-point range, while converting 61.4% of his two-point attempts.

The Wizards are 16-41 this season, sitting 13th in the Eastern Conference, with struggles particularly on the road where they have won only five games. Despite the team’s record, Watkins’ recent performance adds scoring depth to a backcourt that includes Jaden Hardy, Tre Johnson, and Bub Carrington.

His two-way status has previously limited his court time, but Washington has increasingly relied on him in February, reflecting growing trust from the coaching staff.
