The Dallas Mavericks scored a season-high 76 points in the first half and defeated the Brooklyn Nets 123-114 on Tuesday night at Barclays Center, overcoming a disrupted travel schedule caused by a blizzard.
Both teams played road games Sunday and were unable to reach New York until Tuesday afternoon. Dallas had remained in Indiana, while Brooklyn stayed in Atlanta before flying in earlier in the day.
The Mavericks showed no signs of fatigue. They shot 58.5% from the field and built their offense inside early, finishing 48-of-82 overall while committing 15 turnovers.
Marvin Bagley III led the scoring with 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting off the bench. Naji Marshall added 21 points and seven assists in 36 minutes, attacking the paint and getting to the free-throw line nine times.
Brandon Williams produced 19 points and 10 assists, controlling pace and creating efficient looks in transition. Klay Thompson contributed 17 points and knocked down five 3-pointers, helping stretch Brooklyn’s defense.
Dallas played without No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg for a fourth straight game due to a sprained left foot. The visitors compensated with balance, placing six players in double figures and finishing with 26 assists on 48 made field goals.
The Nets shot 51% from the floor and 41% from beyond the arc, but defensive lapses in the first half proved costly. Brooklyn allowed 59% shooting overall and was outscored by double digits in the opening two quarters.
Michael Porter Jr. paced the home side with 26 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Noah Clowney added 22 points, including four 3-pointers, while Nic Claxton recorded 16 points and nine rebounds.
Terance Mann sparked a late push with back-to-back 3-pointers that cut the deficit to two with 7:42 remaining. The Mavericks responded with interior scoring and timely perimeter shots to restore control.
Dallas pushed the margin back to double digits in the final minute, closing out its second straight victory after a 10-game losing streak. The win improves the club’s momentum as it continues to chase ground in the Western Conference standings.
Brooklyn, now 15-40, dropped its fifth consecutive game and fell to 8-19 at home. The Nets struggled to contain dribble penetration and second-chance opportunities, allowing 44 total rebounds and 10 offensive boards.
The Mavericks will host Sacramento on Thursday. The Nets remain home to face San Antonio.
