Kobe Brown has quickly found a larger role with the Pacers following his arrival from the Clippers earlier this month in the trade that also brought center Ivica Zubac to Indiana.
After seeing limited action in Los Angeles, where he averaged just 8.7 minutes per game, Brown has received a significant increase in playing time with his new team.
Through five appearances, including one start, the player is averaging 10.2 points and 6.8 rebounds while logging 26.4 minutes per game.
He turned in his best performance Sunday against Dallas, posting a season-high 15 points along with seven rebounds in 19 minutes.
Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said the organization views this stretch as an opportunity to closely evaluate Brown’s potential and overall fit.
“This is a great chance for us to figure out as much as we can about him,” Carlisle said, per Dustin Dopirak of the Indianapolis Star.
“I like the things he’s doing. … When you get an opportunity like this, this is where you can really show what you can do.”
The extended opportunity comes at an important time for Brown, who will become an unrestricted free agent after the season after the Clippers declined their option on his 2026/27 contract prior to the year.
Forward Pascal Siakam added that Brown’s focus should remain on understanding his role and playing within the team structure.
“For him he’s got to understand what we want him to do and where we need him to be,” Siakam said.
“But I think he’s doing a great job of playing within whatever’s happening and not thinking about it. When you’re open, shoot it. Other than that, just play as hard as you can.”
