Following his second NBA appearance on Friday, Nikola Topic of the Oklahoma City Thunder spoke about the challenging journey he endured to return to the court, as relayed by Johnny Askounis of Eurohoops.

The 20-year-old Serbian guard faced a series of major obstacles over the past year, first working his way back from a torn ACL before later being diagnosed with testicular cancer during the fall.

Despite those setbacks, Topic credited the organization for providing constant encouragement and support throughout his recovery process, both physically and emotionally.

“I have to thank the organization as a whole, from the players and coaching staff to the medical team,” Topic said. “They were incredibly supportive throughout the entire process. And, of course, the fans as well.”

His return carried special meaning during his first home game, where he was greeted with a standing ovation from the crowd – a moment that left a lasting impression on the young guard.

“I’ll remember that for the rest of my life, and I’ll try to kind of say thank you on the court,” he added.
