The Memphis Grizzlies announced Sunday they are signing former Portland Trail Blazers guard Rayan Rupert to a 10-day contract, according to Shams Charania. Rupert, a 21-year-old second-round pick, was waived by Portland on February 20 after playing 139 games across more than two seasons.

Rupert has averaged 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 12 minutes per game over his NBA career. This season, he has appeared in 48 games with the Trail Blazers, posting 2.9 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 31% from three-point range.

In the G League, Rupert has shown more production, averaging 12.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in three games with the Rip City Remix this season.

The Grizzlies, currently 11-15 at home and 9-18 on the road, have struggled with consistency in a competitive Western Conference, holding an overall 21-34 record. Ja Morant leads the team with 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 8.1 assists per game, while Ty Jerome has contributed 19.3 points and 5.7 assists in seven games.

Memphis’ backcourt rotation has seen heavy minutes from Jaylen Wells, Cam Spencer, and Cedric Coward.

This 10-day deal marks an opportunity for Rupert to showcase his skills and earn an extended role.
