Desmond Bane highlighted the importance of Orlando’s response after a tough loss, following the Magic’s 111-109 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. “Last night was emotional… double overtime game, lose at the buzzer… I’m really proud of our group,” Bane said, emphasizing the team’s ability to rebound from adversity.

The guard credited chemistry and trust for the team’s offensive success. “I was a new piece being added to the team… everything just kind of takes time. I feel like I’m in a good spot… trusting my work and just playing hard,” Bane explained, reflecting on his integration with the squad.

Defensive execution in the final minutes drew Bane’s praise. “We were physical… Wendell coming down with huge rebounds… Phoenix just couldn’t finish possessions… we did a great job of finishing possessions today,” he noted, underscoring the importance of timely stops.

Bane also recognized the broader impact of the team’s performance on their season trajectory. “Going into the All-Star break, we were three and one… I think we’re trending in the right direction… playing better basketball, playing together, playing physical,” he said, stressing the team’s momentum heading into the second half of the season.

The win featured Bane leading the offense with 36 points on 13-of-19 shooting, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. Paolo Banchero added 16 points and eight assists, including a decisive fast-break dunk with 40 seconds remaining, while Wendell Carter Jr. collected 15 points and 14 rebounds. Tristan da Silva contributed 13 points off the bench as Orlando improved to 29-26.

Bane reflected on the team’s ability to handle minutes and fatigue on the road. “A lot of guys, a lot of minutes last night… for your group to come up with another hard-fought win tonight and respond… I think it’s huge,” he said, highlighting Orlando’s resilience across back-to-back games.

Orlando’s defense and rebounding were key in holding off Kawhi Leonard, who led the Clippers with 37 points. Bane noted, “Getting back to a little bit of our defensive identity… soon we’ll have Jalen Suggs and Boog [Franz Wagner] back… I like the way we’re trending,” signaling confidence in the team’s continued growth.

The Magic, now eighth in the Eastern Conference, continue their road trip against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, aiming to build on the momentum generated by Bane and the team’s balanced performance.
