LeBron James expressed admiration for Anthony Edwards following the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, telling the young star, “You got a fan in me and a friend in me for life.” Edwards earned MVP honors after leading Team USA Stars to a 47–21 victory over Team USA Stripes at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood.

Edwards, 24, posted a standout performance with 29.3 points per game this season, shooting 49.3% from the field and 40.2% from three-point range. His All-Star showing capped a round-robin tournament where he combined with Tyrese Maxey for 17 points in the championship game.

The new USA vs. World format tested top-tier talent across four 12-minute games. Edwards’ scoring consistency stood out as Team Stars advanced through the semifinals and secured the title against Team USA Stripes. Victor Wembanyama’s 33-point effort for Team World was not enough to advance past the semis.

James, 41, continues to average 22 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game this season. Despite the Stripes falling short, the four-time NBA champion recognized Edwards’ skill and leadership on the court.

Edwards has steadily increased his impact each season, averaging 24.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.1 assists over six years in the league. His development mirrors the path of elite players like James, who reached 26.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game through his first 23 NBA seasons.
