Cameron Payne is reportedly preparing to return to the NBA after deciding to exercise the NBA-out clause in his contract with Partizan.

Following that decision, Payne is expected to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, bringing additional experience to their backcourt rotation.

Payne joined Partizan in late December and appeared in 15 games with the Serbian club, averaging 11.9 points, 3.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest.

His stint overseas came after he attended training camp with the Indiana Pacers before the current season but was unable to secure an immediate NBA role, prompting him to continue his career in Europe.

In order to make his return to the league, Payne is reportedly forfeiting approximately $1.75 million tied to his buyout agreement with the EuroLeague team.

Philadelphia currently has two open standard roster spots following trade deadline moves that sent guards Jared McCain and Eric Gordon elsewhere.

Since dealing McCain, the 76ers have relied heavily on 19-year veteran Kyle Lowry to handle backup point guard duties, creating a clear need for additional depth at the position.

Payne most recently played in the NBA with the New York Knicks, where he averaged 6.9 points in 15.1 minutes across 72 games last season.
