As the Philadelphia 76ers adjust their roster ahead of the postseason and prioritize younger, flexible options, the team will waive veteran guard Cameron Payne to open a spot, per Tony Jones of The Athletic.

Payne signed with Philadelphia on February 18 on a rest-of-season minimum deal and initially carved out a role, appearing in his first 20 games.

However, his playing time declined in recent weeks, including four DNP-CDs over the last six games as the rotation tightened.

The 31-year-old averaged 7.4 points and 2.6 assists in 17 minutes per game while shooting .376 from the field and .330 from three.

If he clears waivers, Payne will be able to sign with another team before the regular season ends, though he won’t be eligible for playoff action due to the timing of his release.
