LeBron James anticipated that questions about retirement would come up during his pregame media session at NBA All-Star Weekend, though he made it clear he wasn’t interested in speculating about the end of his career just yet.

Instead of discussing long-term plans, the Lakers star emphasized living in the present and focusing on what lies directly ahead.

“Yeah, I mean, I want to live,” James said when asked about his future plans for his career. “When I know, you guys will know. I don’t know. I have no idea.

“I just want to live, that’s all.”

Rather than turning attention toward his personal timeline, James stressed that his priority remains the current season and preparing the Los Angeles Lakers for the playoffs.

“No, it’s [not about me],” the forward said. “It’s gearing up towards the postseason, so it has nothing to do with that. It’s the same. Same motivation. Same mind factor. We’ve got past the marathon, and now the sprint is about to start.”

James also expressed confidence in the Lakers’ potential, noting that the team’s success will largely depend on staying healthy as they approach the postseason.

“Our success is going to come down to, obviously, I think our health,” the player said.

“Our coaching staff is putting us in the right position. I think they’re going to give us a game plan every night, but when it comes to what we have to work with, we have to actually go out and see it. We haven’t been privy to having that opportunity much this year.”
