The Sacramento Kings fell 111-106 to the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center on Saturday, October 10, as Ben Simmons returned to NBA action after spending the entire 2025-26 season away from basketball.
Simmons, who joined Sacramento in the offseason, started at guard and finished with seven points, four assists and two turnovers in nine minutes. He shot 2-for-4 from the field and went 3-for-4 from the free-throw line, marking his first game action since his extended absence.
The Kings dropped to 0-3 in the preseason and 0-2 on the road, while Golden State improved to 2-2 overall and remained unbeaten at home at 2-0.
Sacramento held a narrow 25-24 lead after the first quarter, but the Warriors responded with a 37-point second period to take a 61-56 advantage into halftime. Golden State maintained its lead in the third quarter and entered the final period up 89-81.
The Kings made a late push, cutting the deficit to 103-101 after Jonathan Mogbo scored with 3:27 remaining. However, Charles Bassey answered with two free throws, and Will Richard’s three-pointer with 2:10 left restored a five-point Warriors cushion.
Sacramento continued to fight, with Mogbo converting free throws to make it 108-106 with 37.6 seconds remaining. Richard then made two free throws, and Bassey added another at the line to secure the Warriors’ five-point victory.
Darius Acuff Jr. led Sacramento with 25 points and eight assists, shooting 8-for-15 from the field and 4-for-6 from three-point range. Mogbo contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, while Maxime Raynaud added 10 points and five rebounds without missing a field-goal attempt.

Zach LaVine scored 11 points, and Precious Achiuwa finished with eight points and eight rebounds. Simmons’ return was a key storyline for the Kings as they continue preparing for the regular season.
Golden State received a standout performance from Yaxel Lendeborg, who recorded 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists while shooting 10-for-14 from the field. Gui Santos added 15 points and six rebounds, while Brandin Podziemski posted 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Brandon Williams provided a major spark off the bench with 19 points on 7-for-8 shooting, including two three-pointers. Georges Niang added 13 points, making three of his four attempts from beyond the arc.
The Warriors shot 48% from the field and collected 49 rebounds, compared with Sacramento’s 42% shooting and 41 boards. Golden State also finished with 26 assists, six more than the Kings.
