The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to a two-way contract with forward Riley Minix, according to NBA insider Michael Scotto.
Scotto reported Friday that the deal was reached with league sources confirming the agreement to HoopsHype, giving Cleveland another floor-spacing option as it continues its climb in the Eastern Conference standings.
Minix has averaged 17.5 points this season in the G League while shooting 51.2 percent from the field and 42.6 percent from three-point range.
The Cavaliers sit fourth in the East at 34-21 and have won five straight games, leaning on balanced scoring around Donovan Mitchell’s 29.0 points per contest.
Minix began the season on a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs after re-signing in August 2025.
He appeared in three games for San Antonio this season, averaging 3.0 points in limited minutes before being waived on December 12 following the signing of Kyle Mangas.
The 25-year-old has been far more productive at the G League level. In 11 games this season with Austin, he posted 15.5 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 33.1 minutes per game while shooting 39.4 percent from beyond the arc.
During the 2024-25 G League campaign, he averaged 20.5 points on 52.7 percent shooting and 41.1 percent from three across 16 games.
On January 14, 2026, the Cleveland Charge acquired Minix’s returning player rights from the Austin Spurs in a three-team trade, signaling organizational interest before Friday’s agreement.
Cleveland’s current rotation features multiple perimeter shooters, including Sam Merrill at 47.2 percent from three and Jaylon Tyson at 47.5 percent.
