Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green said he believes he still has several productive seasons ahead of him, telling Mark Medina of EssentiallySports.com that he expects to continue playing for another two to four years beyond this season.
“I feel great. I feel like I can go another two to four years. I think for me, I always want to try to compete at an elite level,” Green said. “If I can’t do that, then it’s not as fun. But what I will say is that I have more left than I thought I would at this point.
“So as the years have gone by, the outlook on when I’ll be done has changed. I thought I’d get to Year 12 and that I’d be breaking down. But by the time I got to Year 12, I felt like I was still getting better.”
Meanwhile, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy pushed back on earlier speculation, saying Green was not being shopped ahead of the trade deadline.
The player holds a player option worth $27,678,571 for the final year of his contract and must decide whether to exercise it by June 29.
Green has played 14 seasons for the Warriors. He has averaged 8.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists in 926 regular-season games.
He was selected to play in 4 All-Star games. He has won 1 Defensive Player of the Year award and 4 NBA championships.
