ImageBarcelona has lost a lot of its inside power after Ilyasova and Andersen decided to leave the Catalan club for NBA and are trying to fill their gap by signing the best possible replacement, Slovenian itnernational star Matjaz Smodis.

Smodis was very close to Barcelona last season too but he eventually agreed terms with CSKA Moscow for a new 3 year contract because the Russian offer was simply too good to reject. But things have changed a lot in one year and the tough financial situation CSKA is under could make them lose Smodis.

According to elmundodeportivo.es Barcleona has already contacted CSKA to make an enquiry about the player but the Russian club's demands were too high for the moment.

Smodis is a personal choice of the club's coach Pascual and he has asked Barcelona's management to do everything possible to sign Smodis, even if it means that Barcelona would have to pay a huge buy-ouy to CSKA and offer the player a lucrative contract worth over 2 million euros per season.

Smodis' agent Filipovic admitted that there are talks between the clubs and said that his client would have no problem

moving to Barcelona if the two clubs agree.
