The NBA announced on Thursday that Oklahoma City Thunder guard Luguentz Dort and New Orleans Pelicans guard Jeremiah Fears were each fined $25,000 for their involvement in an on-court altercation. The incident occurred after the Thunder’s 104-95 victory over New Orleans on January 27 at Paycom Center.

According to the league, Dort wrapped up Fears after he secured a rebound, and after time expired, Dort shoved Fears in the chest. Both players then grabbed each other’s jerseys in an aggressive exchange, prompting the fine.

James Jones, NBA Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, confirmed the penalties, emphasizing the league’s commitment to maintaining on-court discipline. The fines are consistent with NBA policy regarding postgame confrontations.

The Thunder, who improved to 38-10 with the win, remain atop the Western Conference standings, while New Orleans fell to 12-37, holding the 15th spot in the West.

Fears’ role in the altercation adds to a challenging season for the Pelicans, who have struggled to stay competitive in the 2025-26 campaign. The team is in the midst of a rebuilding phase and faces another tough stretch of road games following the incident.
