A bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for the New Orleans Pelicans has been the growth of their rookie class.

Jeremiah Fears showcased that in Tuesday’s home finale, setting a career high and a franchise rookie record with 40 points in a win over the Utah Jazz, according to Rod Walker of NOLA.com.

“I’m really just proud of his growth,” interim head coach James Borrego said. “From training camp to where he’s at today, he’s taken a massive step. This franchise is in a really good place because of players like him. Fantastic.”

Fears has played 1 season for the Pelicans. He has averaged 13.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 80 regular-season games.
