Houston Rockets veteran guard Fred VanVleet has suffered a torn ACL that led to a possibility of missing the 2025-2026 season, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
VanVleet encountered the injury during the recent offseason workout.
In June, he just signed a two-year, $50 million extension with the Rockets, with the deal including a player option in 2026-20207.
The former NBA champion became a perfect fit for Houston as he started the coup of winning after a rebuilding season, ending with 52 wins, a second seed, and the four-year postseason drought.
He averaged 14.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 1.6 steals in the last season, which helped the franchise reach the quarterfinals playoffs in a game seven period against the Golden State Warriors.
VanVleet earned his first NBA title in 2019 with the Toronto Raptors, while also being a one-time All-Star.
Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets’ guards have to step up like Reed Sheppard and Aaron Holiday to maintain their postseason stint.
