The New York Knicks have emerged as a potential suitor for Jrue Holiday, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Holiday, currently with the Portland Trail Blazers, is in the second season of a four-year, $134 million contract and has played in 18 games so far this year.
New York is reportedly intrigued by the idea of slotting Holiday alongside Jalen Brunson in the backcourt, while there is also a belief that adding a veteran like Holiday could further boost the franchise’s appeal to Giannis Antetokounmpo down the line.
Around the league, there is also a sense that the Knicks are at least “some degree” open to moving Karl-Anthony Towns.
Although the team has denied engaging in active trade talks involving the center, they are said to have quietly checked in with other teams to assess his market value.
Despite those possibilities, team owner James Dolan has previously indicated that he does not expect the organization to pursue any blockbuster transactions before the trade deadline.
For now, the Knicks’ front office is believed to be concentrating on more modest moves, particularly deals centered around Guerschon Yabusele’s $5.5 million contract.
