Jalen Johnson recorded 23 points and a career-tying 18 rebounds for his NBA-leading 30th double-double, leading the Atlanta Hawks to a 110-103 victory over the Phoenix Suns on Friday at State Farm Arena.
Onyeka Okongwu scored 25 points as the Hawks overcame a late third-quarter deficit, gaining momentum after Devin Booker exited with a right ankle injury.
Booker had 31 points, four rebounds, and three assists before leaving, but Phoenix could not recover without their star guard.
CJ McCollum added 21 points off the bench, extending his double-digit scoring streak to 34 games since joining Atlanta in the Trae Young trade.
The Hawks outscored the Suns 26-12 in the fourth quarter, shooting 43 of 81 overall and 13 of 26 from beyond the arc.
Atlanta trailed 91-84 late in the third but rallied as Booker left the floor, with Johnson and Okongwu fueling the comeback with dominant interior play.
Corey Kispert contributed eight points while Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 13 points and three assists to support the balanced attack.
Phoenix’s bench struggled to maintain offensive efficiency, with Dillon Brooks scoring 11 and Collin Gillespie adding 16 points, but the team shot just 44 percent from the field.
The Suns made a brief push early in the fourth, but a series of free throws and key baskets from McCollum and Okongwu pushed Atlanta’s lead into double digits.
With Kristaps Porzingis, Zaccharie Risacher, and N’Faly Dante sidelined, the Hawks relied on depth and teamwork to snap a five-game losing streak.
Atlanta improved to 22-25, while Phoenix dropped to 27-18, remaining seventh in the Western Conference standings.
The Hawks return home Monday to host the Indiana Pacers, and the Suns will host the Miami Heat on Sunday.
