Naji Marshall tied a season high with 30 points and added nine assists as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Golden State Warriors 123-115 at American Airlines Center on Thursday night. The win was Dallas’ season-best fourth straight, improving the Mavericks to 19-26, while Golden State fell to 25-21.
Marshall shot 10-of-12 from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, finishing with seven rebounds and four turnovers in 34 minutes. Cooper Flagg logged 21 points and a career-high 11 rebounds in 30 minutes, exceeding his planned minute cap in his second game back from a sprained left ankle.
Max Christie scored 21 and Brandon Williams added 19 off the bench as Dallas received scoring from across its rotation.
Dwight Powell posted a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double and the Mavericks finished with 54 points in the paint and 43 total rebounds.
Stephen Curry led Golden State with 38 points, drilling 8 of 15 from long range on the night he became the first player to attempt 10,000 three-pointers, according to the game report. Curry’s shooting kept the Warriors competitive, but it was not enough to overcome Dallas’ balanced attack.
The game swung late in the fourth after Draymond Green was assessed a flagrant foul and then committed another foul shortly after; Green finished with six personal fouls and fouled out with 3:50 remaining.
Golden State rallied at times, but an 11-0 Dallas run that began after the flagrant foul pushed the lead out of reach.
Jonathan Kuminga exited in the first half with left-knee soreness after logging nine minutes and 10 points, landing awkwardly while dribbling the length of the floor; his status will be monitored. Kuminga’s early departure and Green’s foul trouble limited the Warriors’ response options down the stretch.
Dallas shot 50 percent overall and 37 percent from three, converting 24 of 30 free throws, while the Warriors finished 45 percent from the field and 33 percent from deep. Turnovers and foul trouble were decisive — Golden State committed 15 turnovers to Dallas’ 6 and paid the price in transition scoring.
The Mavericks now prepare for Saturday’s home clash with the Los Angeles Lakers, while the Warriors begin a two-game trip starting at Minnesota on Saturday.
