De’Aaron Fox scored 31 points and Victor Wembanyama added 26 points and 13 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Utah Jazz 126-109 at Delta Center on Thursday night. The victory improves San Antonio to 31-14, keeping them second in the Western Conference, while Utah falls to 15-30.
Fox hit 10 of 13 from the field, including six 3-pointers, and Wembanyama added five blocks while shooting 9-of-14 with four triples, bouncing back from a 5-of-21 performance against Houston on Wednesday.
Keldon Johnson contributed 21 points, and Stephon Castle had 16 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds as the Spurs’ balanced offense controlled the game.
The Jazz were paced by Jusuf Nurkic, who posted 17 points, 14 assists, and 11 rebounds for his second consecutive triple-double and third career total.
Ace Bailey scored a career-high 25 points and Keyonte George added 23, though neither contributed in the fourth quarter as the Spurs closed on a 27-10 run.
San Antonio shot 50.6% overall and 41.9% from deep, dominating the Jazz 32-10 on fast-break points, exploiting Utah’s league-high 127.3 points allowed per game.
The Spurs and Jazz were tied at 31 after the first quarter, but a 17-2 run early in the second, capped by Julian Champagnie’s fourth 3-pointer, gave San Antonio a lead they would not relinquish.
Utah briefly tied the game at 99, but a 10-point stretch featuring a Fox 3-pointer pushed San Antonio ahead 109-99 with under seven minutes remaining.
The Jazz were without Lauri Markkanen due to a long illness, contributing to their struggles and a 1-11 record without him this season.
San Antonio now prepares to host New Orleans on Sunday, while Utah hosts the Miami Heat on Saturday.
