Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints sheds light on several names connected to the LA Clippers as the trade deadline approaches, while also clarifying where the team is drawing firm lines.
Azarly notes that the Charlotte Hornets have joined the list of teams that have checked in on Ivica Zubac. Despite the interest, the Clippers have not shown meaningful willingness to move their starting center.
Sources told ClutchPoints that one team even dangled an unprotected first-round pick along with a pick swap in discussions for Zubac, but the proposal failed to gain traction.
While the Clippers explored possibilities involving John Collins earlier in the season, Azarly writes that interest in moving him has cooled.
Collins has been productive during the team’s recent surge, posting averages of 15.6 points in 28.1 minutes per game over his last 14 appearances while shooting an eye-catching .675 from the field, .635 from three-point range, and .792 from the free-throw line.
Azarly also reports that the Clippers are not “actively shopping” veteran guard Bogdan Bogdanovic. That said, his name remains worth monitoring.
Bogdanovic has appeared in just 16 games this season and hasn’t played since December 26 due to health issues. His production has dipped to career lows, including 8.0 points per game and a 37.6% shooting mark.
As the front office evaluates ways to improve the offense, several guards have recently been linked to the Clippers. Azarly mentions Collin Sexton, Anfernee Simons, and Coby White as potential targets.
The common thread among those names is the Clippers’ desire to add another ball-handler and playmaker to ease the offensive load on James Harden and Kawhi Leonard.
The Clippers hope to sign a pair of two-way players to standard contracts before the season ends: https://t.co/vkLoTb4lcy
