The Utah Jazz travel to Texas to face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, January 19, with both teams managing notable injuries ahead of the Western Conference matchup. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 PM ET at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio.
Utah Jazz enter the contest with a 14-28 record and are currently riding a three-game losing streak. Utah sits 13th in the Western Conference and is coming off back-to-back losses to the Dallas Mavericks by margins of 18 and 22 points.
The Jazz injury report is headlined by the absence of Lauri Markkanen, who is out due to illness. Markkanen leads the team in scoring at 27.9 points per game and averages 7.2 rebounds, making his availability a major factor in Utah’s offensive ceiling.
Walker Kessler remains out while recovering from a left shoulder injury. Georges Niang is also unavailable due to a left foot fourth metatarsal stress reaction. Isaiah Collier is listed as questionable with a right quadriceps contusion. The guard has averaged 8.6 points and 6.7 assists per game.
Several two-way players, including Elijah Harkless, John Tonje, and Oscar Tshiebwe, are ruled out due to G League assignments.
San Antonio Spurs enter the game at 29-13 and sit second in the Western Conference standings. San Antonio has won its last two games, including victories over the Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks.
The Spurs’ injury report is shorter but still significant. Devin Vassell is out with a left adductor strain after starting all 32 games he has played this season. Vassell averages 15.0 points per game and is a primary perimeter scorer.
San Antonio will also be without Harrison Ingram, David Jones Garcia, and Stanley Umude, all of whom are out on G League two-way assignments.
The Spurs continue to rely on a balanced lineup led by Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, and Stephon Castle. San Antonio averages 117.8 points per game and ranks among the league’s more efficient interior scoring teams.
The teams last met on December 27, when Utah secured a 127-114 road win in San Antonio.
