Although his box-score production was relatively limited in Saturday’s contest, the Dallas Mavericks wing Caleb Martin finished with six rebounds, five assists, and three points across 21 minutes. The veteran had been trending sharply upward before that outing.

He was riding the momentum of his most impressive two-game run since joining Dallas, putting up averages of 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game while converting an eye-popping 83.3% of his attempts inside the arc and 60% from beyond it, via Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News.

The 30-year-old’s early-season struggles can largely be traced back to a lingering hip issue that sidelined and limited him for months, but Martin indicated that those physical concerns are now mostly behind him.

“Just thinking less. Feeling better,” the player explained, noting a clear difference in how his body feels now compared to the opening stretch of the season.

With Cooper Flagg sidelined by a sprained ankle, Martin has drawn starts in each of the past two games, and he emphasized that his focus is on finding a natural flow rather than forcing offense.

“Just trying to get as much rhythm as I can. … I’m one of the guys who tries to impact as much as I can as quick as I possibly can. It’s not always going to be an offensive mindset first coming into the game so just trying to let the game come to me.”
