BENTON, KY.— Daytona Beach will sit at the center of the high school basketball universe this weekend when some of the nation’s top prep players take the court at DME Academy.
The Grind Session, a winter circuit of high school basketball events that has produced approximately 100 NBA players and more than 20 first-round NBA draft picks, is hosting a three-day showcase at DME Academy from Friday through Sunday.
DME Academy’s Ryan Hampton, one of the most recruited players in the country, headlines a field filled with future college and professional talent. ESPN currently has Hampton ranked as the 5th best prospect in their Class of 2027 player rankings. 247Sports has him at No. 7, while Rivals slots him at No. 3. The 6-foot-7 guard/wing already holds offers from a who’s who of high-major programs, including Houston, Indiana, Louisville, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M, among others.
DME Academy is one of 25 teams from 11 states and Canada participating in this weekend’s showcase.
