There is growing belief around the league that Jonathan Kuminga’s tenure with Golden State is coming to a close.

Brett Siegel of Clutch Points reports that the Warriors largely expect the Congolese-born forward to be traded before the February deadline and that he may have already played his final game with the team.

Kuminga has not appeared in the past nine games, including seven coach’s decision DNPs. Part of that absence is tied to caution from his representatives, who prefer not to risk injury while trade talks are ongoing.

There is reportedly a shared understanding between the Warriors and the former seventh overall pick’s camp that a deal is likely to happen within the next few weeks.

The timing aligns with his contract situation, as Kuminga becomes eligible to be traded on January 15.

He signed a two-year, $46.8 million extension in October, carrying a $22.5 million cap hit this season and a $24.3 million team option for next year.

A trade immediately upon eligibility would also trigger a bonus of roughly $1.7 million.

Sacramento and New Orleans have been among the teams most consistently linked to Kuminga, with Dallas, Chicago, and Portland also mentioned as potential suitors.

From Golden State’s perspective, the priority is landing a player who can help right away, ideally a wing who can shoot from the perimeter and defend alongside Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.

To reach that goal, the Warriors are open to packaging Kuminga with Moses Moody or Buddy Hield.

While Michael Porter Jr. fits the profile of the type of player they are seeking, Brooklyn is not believed to have interest in Kuminga.
