San Antonio Spurs were again without center Victor Wembanyama on Saturday against Portland, as the player missed his second straight game while dealing with a hyperextended left knee.

However, there is growing optimism around his recovery.

Head coach Mitch Johnson indicated that Wembanyama is expected to travel with the team to Memphis ahead of Tuesday’s matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to reporting from Tom Orsborn of The San Antonio Express-News.

While the trip does not guarantee that Wembanyama will return to game action, it represents a positive step in his progression.

Johnson offered an update on the young center’s condition, saying “[He’s] looking really good,” a remark that suggests Wembanyama’s recovery is trending in the right direction.
