Kristaps Porzingis is getting closer to returning to action for the Hawks after dealing with an illness that has kept him sidelined for most of the past several weeks.
He will remain out for Monday’s game against Oklahoma City, but the team is expected to list him as day-to-day following that matchup, signaling that a return is approaching.
The veteran big man has missed 14 of Atlanta’s last 15 games due to the recurring illness.
Team officials have indicated that this issue is not connected to the postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome he previously dealt with earlier in his career, easing some concern about long-term complications.
When healthy, Porzingis has been a steady presence in the Hawks’ lineup.
In his first season with the team, he has appeared in 13 games and delivered consistent production, averaging 19.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.6 blocks per contest.
His return would give Atlanta a much-needed boost on both ends of the floor as they look to stabilize their rotation moving forward.
