Observations from around the league suggest there is curiosity about how the Golden State Warriors will handle Jonathan Kuminga in the short term.

Writing in The Stein Line, Jake Fischer notes that several rival executives attending the G League Winter Showcase in Orlando questioned whether Kuminga would receive increased minutes before he becomes eligible to be traded on January 15.

Those questions stem from Kuminga’s recent absence from the regular rotation, which has raised eyebrows among opposing front offices.

From Golden State’s perspective, however, there appears to be little incentive to force the issue.

Keeping Kuminga healthy and avoiding unnecessary risk ahead of the trade deadline may carry more value than showcasing him in limited action.

Fischer adds an important caveat from his conversations: executives around the league indicated that their evaluations of Kuminga are already well established.

Whether he plays a larger role, remains on the fringes of the rotation, or sits entirely over the next several weeks is not expected to materially alter how teams view his talent, potential, or trade value.
