Chicago Bulls guard Josh Giddey praised the team’s balanced performance following Wednesday’s 127–111 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers at the United Center.
“This is kind of who we’ve been trying to get back to for a while now, and I think we started the season off the right way… tonight was a really good step in the right direction against a really good team,” Giddey said.
The young guard emphasized the importance of contributions from the full roster. “Zach Collins and Jalen Smith played great together. Vooch [Nikola Vucevic] played great, Tre Jones… Team effort. We hang our hat on having a deep team, and we can go deep into our bench,” he explained.
Giddey reflected on the effectiveness of the Bulls’ double-big lineups. “Billy [Donovan] mixes it up with double-big lineups now… Stick, Zach, and [Jalen] have been phenomenal rebounding, giving us bigger bodies inside, and I thought Vooch was awesome tonight, both sides of the ball,” he said.
On his personal performance, Giddey remained focused on team success over individual stats. “I’m feeling good… stats and all that stuff is nice, but winning is always number one on my priority list. I got to figure out how I can lead these guys best I can to wins,” he noted after recording his sixth triple-double of the season with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists.
The point guard credited the team’s depth for their improved rhythm and resilience. “I think we’re getting healthy. When we do get everyone, all 15 guys ready to go, we’ll be a tough team to beat,” he said.
Chicago shot 56.2% from the field and 38.9% from three, with Vucevic contributing 20 points and nine rebounds, while Coby White scored 25. The Bulls overcame a tough stretch, winning after losing eight of nine games prior, showcasing a collective effort in both scoring and rebounding.
Giddey praised the crowd’s role in energizing the team. “These fans show out every night for us, so we need to give them something to cheer for, and I thought tonight was a really good step in the right direction,” he said.
Cleveland’s Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers with 32 points, while Jaylon Tyson added 21, but turnovers (20 compared to the Bulls’ 15) and second-chance scoring deficits contributed to the loss. The two teams will meet again on Friday in Cleveland, giving Giddey and the Bulls an opportunity to continue building momentum in the Eastern Conference.
