Any significant trade activity from the Atlanta Hawks as the deadline approaches is expected to involve Kristaps Porzingis and his $30.7 million expiring contract, according to Marc Stein.

That salary slot represents one of Atlanta’s most flexible tools if the front office decides to pursue a notable move.

However, Stein also points out that Porzingis’ current health situation could make those discussions more difficult.

The team recently announced that the veteran big man will miss at least the next two weeks because of an illness, adding another layer of uncertainty to his availability.

That concern is amplified by the fact that Porzingis dealt with a lingering illness during the 2025 playoffs, which limited his effectiveness and availability at a critical time.

With questions still surrounding his health, potential trade partners may be cautious, even as his expiring deal makes him financially attractive in deadline scenarios.
