Jalen Williams of the Oklahoma City Thunder recently shared his thoughts on guard Nikola Topic, the 2024 lottery pick who is currently receiving treatment for testicular cancer.

Topic has already endured a difficult start to his professional career, having missed his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL before facing the cancer diagnosis earlier this fall.

According to Williams, what stands out most is Topic’s mindset and approach during this challenging period.

“He doesn’t come in like, ‘It sucks,’” Williams said, pointing to the way Topic carries himself day to day.

Rather than retreating, Topic continues to stay engaged with the team and his development.

“He’s going in, working out and shooting and trying to get better, which is insane to me,” Williams added, highlighting the determination Topic shows despite everything he’s dealing with.

Williams emphasized that Topic’s mental strength has left a strong impression on those around him.

“He’s been really strong about the situation,” he said, making it clear that Topic refuses to let self-pity define him.

“He doesn’t feel sorry for himself,” Williams concluded, underscoring the resilience that has earned Topic admiration inside the organization.
